Style Manager: the Recent Colors List is too long

Background

When viewing a particular style's details using the FS Pro 2013 Style Manager, any colors you select for the text will get stored in the Recent Colors list. If the list gets too unwieldy, you can clear it out using the procedure below.

Warning: Only carry out this procedure if you are familiar with HTML/XML code. It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the UserColorList.dat file before making any changes to the file.

Procedure

Proceed as follows to clear out the Recent Colors list:

Step

Action

1

Close FS Pro 2013 and Word.

2

Open Windows Explorer.

3

Navigate to the following folder:

  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Information Mapping\FS Pro 5.0\Data
  • Windows Vista/7/8: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Information Mapping\FS Pro 5.0\Data

4

Open the file UserColorList.dat with a text editing application like Microsoft Notepad. The file is written in an XML format.

5

Find the entries labeled similarly to the following below. Each "UserColor" entry is a color that is listed in the Recent Colors list.

<UserColor HexValue="#FF0000" Name="Red" />

6

Delete the entire line for any of the colors you wish to remove.

7

Save the UserColorList.dat file.

Update: This issue is completely resolved in version 5.0.26 of FS Pro 2013. Please update to the latest version if the issue still occurs for you.
