Error: License file not in place

Symptom

When starting FS Pro 2013 or opening an FS Pro document, you get the following error:

License file not in place

Cause

There is a mismatch between the path to your FS Pro 2013 license file (fspro.lic) as listed in the LicenseConfig.dat file and the actual path on your PC.

Solution

Proceed as follows to resolve this issue:

StepAction

1

Exit Word.

2

If your Windows operating system is

  • 32-bit, navigate to C:\Program Files\Information Mapping\FS Pro 5.0\Data
  • 64-bit, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Information Mapping\FS Pro 5.0\Data

Note: You can see if your Windows OS is 32-bit or 64-bit in (Windows) Control Panel -> System.

3

Is the file fspro.lic in that folder?

  • if Yes, continue with Step 4
  • If No, contact Information Mapping Support ... tell them about this fspro.lic issue.

4

Navigate to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Information Mapping\FS Pro 5.0\Data and open the file LicenseConfig.dat in Notepad.

Note: AppData is a hidden folder, you may need to turn on the ability to view hidden files and folders (in the Control Panel - depending upon your Windows version).

5

Correct the path in the <Path> tag in LicenseConfig.dat: if your Windows OS is

  • 32-bit, set the path (& file) to C:\Program Files\Information Mapping\FS Pro 5.0\Data\fspro.lic
  • 64-bit, set the path (& file) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Information Mapping\FS Pro 5.0\Data\fspro.lic

6

Save the LicenseConfig.dat file.

7

Start FS Pro.

Result: The error should not appear anymore.
