FS Pro 2013 style reference

Introduction

This topic will explain where each FS Pro 2013 style can and should be used in order to get a valid FS Pro document, i.e. an FS Pro 2013 document that does not have validation errors in the Outline Pane. 

Styles used outside of a Block

The following styles are only allowed outside of the gridlines of a Block:

Style name

Correct use

Publication title
  • as the first item of an Overview Map
  • must be followed by Heading 4, Map title
Heading 1, Part Title
  • as the first item of an Overview Map
  • must be followed by Heading 4, Map title

Heading 2, Chapter Title

  • as the first item of an Overview Map
  • must be followed by Heading 4, Map title

Heading 3, Section Title

  • as the first item of an Overview Map
  • must be followed by Heading 4, Map title

Heading 4, Map title

  • Immediately preceded by a
    • Publication Title
    • Heading 1, Part Title
    • Heading 2, Chapter Title, or
    • Heading 3, Section Title, or
  • as the first item on a new page
  • must be followed by a Block Line and a Block

Map title, Continued

  • as the first item on a continued page
  • must be followed by a Block Line and a Block
  • automatically generated when using the Continue function

TOC Title

  • as the first item of a Table of Contents
  • can be preceded by a Publication Title (optionally)

Block Line

Before and after every Block

Memo Line

Before and after every Block (rarely used)

Header

In the document header

Footer

In the document footer

Styles used in a Block only

The following styles are allowed in a Block, but not in a table:

The following styles are allowed in a table, but not directly in a Block:

Table Header Text

Must be used for the first row in the table (the table header)

Table Text

  • Must be used for normal text in a table 
  • Cannot be used in the table header

The following styles are allowed in a table and in a Block:
