Summary
The Save as Reusable Map function saves a Map so it can be reused across multiple documents.
When to use
Use Save as Reusable Map when you have a Map(s) containing the same blocks that appear in all or multiple documents to keep
- from having to retype the same information repeatedly, and
- the Maps as consistent as possible, even when there are multiple authors.
Example: If all the documents you create must have a Document Overview Map, then you could create a standard Overview Map with all the necessary Blocks and their corresponding content. Whenever you need the Document Overview Map, you simply insert it into the beginning of the document where it belongs and complete the contents of the blocks.
Cursor placement
Place your cursor anywhere in the Map you want to save as reusable.
Procedure
To save a reusable Map

- enter the name you want to give to the reusable Map, and
- click OK.
Result: The title of the reusable Map displays under the Custom Maps submenu of the Map drop-down menu of the Information Mapping ribbon group.
