Creating, Editing and Deleting Custom Style Sets

Summary

Use the FS Pro Style Manager to prepare unlimited custom style sets with groups of styles that have unique text properties.

When to prepare custom style sets

Consider preparing custom style sets when you want to

  • apply your company's look and feel to your documents, or
  • use different sets of styles for different documents or projects.

Example: You want to use the Arial font in training materials and the Trebuchet font in proposals.

Creating a new style set

Follow the steps in the table below to use the FS Pro Style Manager to create and name a custom style set.

Select Style Manager from the Advanced ribbon group.

Result: The Style Manager window appears.

Click New.

Result: The New Style Set window appears.

  • Type the name of the style set in the New Style Set Name field, and 
  • click OK.

Result: The FS Pro Style Manager adds the new style set to the Style Sets list, as well as the Style Manager drop-down menu.

Editing a custom style set

Follow the steps in the table below to use the FS Pro Style Manager to edit the formatting properties of the text styles in FS Pro.

Select Style Manager from the Advanced ribbon group.

Result: The Style Manager window appears.

  • Highlight the style set from the Style Sets list, and 
  • click Edit.

Note: The Default style set can be viewed, but not edited.

Result: The Style Detail for the selected Style Set window appears.

Do you want to add a new style to the style set?

  • If yes, go to Step 4. 
  • If no, go to Step 7.

Click New.

Result: The New Style window appears.

  • Type the name of the custom style in the New Style Name field, and 
  • click OK.

Result: The name of the custom style appears at the bottom of the Style Detail list under the Custom heading.

Do you want to add more than one new style to the style set?

  • If yes 
    • repeat Steps 4 and 5 for each new style, and 
    • go to Step 7. 
  • If no, go to Step 7.

Select the style you want to customize from the Style Detail list, and
change the formatting properties as needed.

Do you want to customize more than one of the styles under the Style Detail list?

  • If yes 
    • repeat Step 7 for each style you want to customize under the Style Detail list, and 
    • go to Step 9. 
  • If no, go to Step 9.

Click Save.

Result: The Style Detail for the selected style set window closes and you are returned to the Style Manager window.

Important: To apply a new style set by default to new and converted documents, you must change it to be the default style set in FS Pro by selecting its corresponding radio button.

Click Close.

Deleting a custom style from a custom style set

Follow the steps in the table below to delete a custom style from a style set.

Select Style Manager.

Result: The Style Manager window appears.

  • Highlight the name of the style set you want to edit, and 
  • click Edit.

Result: The Style Detail for the selected style set window appears.

  • Highlight the name of the custom style from under the Custom heading of the Style Detail list (Note: You may have to scroll down to the bottom of the list to see it.), and 
  • click Delete.

Result: The custom style is removed from the Style Detail list.

Click Save.

Result: The Style Detail for the selected style set window closes and you are returned to the Style Manager window.

Click Close.

Result: The Style Manager window closes.

Deleting a custom style set from the Style Manager

Follow the steps in the table below to delete a custom style set from the FS Pro Style Manager.

Result: The Style Manager window appears.

  • Highlight the name of the style set you want to delete, and 
  • click Delete.

Result: The style set is removed from the Style Sets listing.

Click Close.

Result: The Style Manager window closes.
