The Info Type function assigns an Information Type attribute to
- a Map
- one or more Blocks, or
- both a Map and the Blocks.
When to use
The Info Type function can be used to tag the Maps and/or blocks so they can be more easily located in a content management system.
Example: You want to update your company's procedures, so you search for all the content containing the "Procedure" attribute.
Use the table below to determine where to place your cursor.
|If you want to assign an Information Type attribute to a ...||Then place your cursor on ...|
Select the Information Type attribute that you want to assign the Map or Block from the Info Type drop-down menu of the Information Mapping ribbon group.
Result: The Information Type attribute is assigned to your Map or Block.
Viewing the attribute in the Outline pane
Once a document is tagged with (an) Information Type(s) at the Map or Block level, the corresponding symbol appears next to the Map title or Block label in the Outline pane.
Example: The example below shows the Outline pane for the Microsoft Word version of this document, which has been tagged with Information Types at the Block level.
