Updating FS Pro

Summary

The Update Settings function allows you to set up FS Pro to make automatic updates to the software at specified intervals. Or, you can set it up so you can manually update the software whenever you like.

Setting the Update Settings

Follow the steps in the table below to set the Update Settings for automatic or manual updates.

Select Update Settings from the Help drop-down menu of the Advanced ribbon group.

Result: The Update Settings dialog box appears.

If you want to check for updates ...Then select the ...

  • Automatically every radio button, and 
  • frequency for checking for the update from the drop-down menu: 
    • [every] time FS Pro starts 
    • [every] day 
    • [every] week 
    • [every] 2 weeks, and 
    • [every] month.

to be asked how to proceed with the updates before they are made  Ask me what I want to do radio button.

 Click OK.

Manually updating the software

If you have set the Update Settings not to check for updates, you will need to update the FS Pro software manually. To do so, follow the steps in the table below.

Select Update Now (Current Version 5.x.x) from the Help drop-down menu of the Advanced ribbon group.

Result: The Searching for Updates screen appears.

Do you have the most current version of FS Pro?

  • If yes 
    • click Finish on the Latest version already installed screen, and 
    • this ends the procedure. 
  • If no, go to Step 3.

Click Update from the Update Information screen.

Result: The Downloading & Installing updates screen appears.

Click Finish from the Update successful! screen.

Restarting Microsoft Word

For FS Pro updates to take effect, you must restart Microsoft Word after the update has occurred, regardless of whether FS Pro is automatically or manually updated.
