Update error: "Unable to check for updates, the server file failed to load"

Symptom and Error Log Details

  • When trying to update the software, you receive the following message:
"An error occurred"
Unable to check for updates, the server file failed to load.

  • After clicking Show details, you see an additional message:
Error trying to save file:
Error downloading "https://fspro-updates.informationmapping.com/stable/wyserver.wys":
The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.

Possible Cause

This issue occurs when a part of the update mechanism is still using an outdated version of the update software.

Solution

To resolve the problem, you need to manually update the updater component.
Administrator rights are required to perform the steps below:

Download the latest version of wyUpdate.exe from the following link:
https://downloads.informationmapping.com/software/wyupdater/2902/wyUpdate.exe

Open File Explorer and navigate to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Information Mapping\FS Pro 6

Overwrite the existing file wyUpdate.exe with the one you just downloaded.

Double-click wyUpdate.exe to check if it now runs without errors.
